Anger Management for Chris Brown...
and Rihanna!?

The New York Post ran an interesting article today regarding Chris Brown and Rihanna. Chris Brown is apparently taking anger management classes, but according to the article, sources close to Chris Brown say that Rihanna may be in need of the classes as well...even though she was the one beaten to a pulp.

I'd pay to see this!

One of my favorite shows, Jesus Christ Superstar, has received the kabuki treatment for its production in Japan. One of the reasons I love this show so much is because it is versatile and can be translated into any genre and any time period.

Boy Killed Anally When Office Chair Explodes

This sucks...

Talk about offensive!

The New York Post recently ran an offensive cartoon (drawn by longtime Post cartoonist Sean Delonas) which refers to Travis the chimp, who was shot to death by police on Monday after it mauled a friend of its owner. The caption reads: ``They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill.'' You can put two and two together.

Yesterday, about 200 protesters stood outside the Post chanting
``Boycott the Post! Shut it down!''

TED: Ideas Worth Spreading

This is from TED (Technology, Entertainment Design). Even as mega-banks topple, Juan Enriquez says the big reboot is yet to come. But don't look for it on your ballot -- or in the stock exchange. It'll come from science labs, and it promises keener bodies and minds. Our kids are going to be ... different.

The video is
about 19 minutes long, but worth it.

TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Featured speakers have included Al Gore on climate change, Philippe Starck on design, Jill Bolte Taylor on observing her own stroke, Nicholas Negroponte on One Laptop per Child, Jane Goodall on chimpanzees, and "Lost" producer JJ Abrams on the allure of mystery. What was Joaquin Phoenix on?!?

UPDATE: According to MTV news... "Phoenix has said he's quitting acting to focus on his burgeoning hip-hop career. But with brother-in-law Casey Affleck following him around to film his every Andy Kaufman-esque move, speculation has been raised that the acclaimed actor is either having a public breakdown, suffering from a substance problem or playing an elaborate prank on the media for the purposes of the documentary."

WTF was Joaquin on?!?!

From the looks of this clip from last night's David Letterman, Joaquin is heading down the same path as his brother, River.

I'm still "Defying Gravity"

I can't seem to get "Defying Gravity" out of my head from last night...so I went to YouTube and found some of my favorite (illegal) clips from various productions of the show!

What is it about the line - "So if you care to find me, look to the Western sky...." - that's so amazing!

Wicked at the Orpheum Theatre

When Wicked first premiered in San Francisco several years ago, I really had no interest in seeing it. After seeing it last night, I'm now kicking myself for not seeing Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth in it. That being said, the show last night was FANTASTIC!!! Teal Wicks as Elpheba and Kendra Kassebaum as Galinda/Glinda were both amazing! I can't wait to see it again...and again.

Etta James (on Beyonce):
"She's going to get her ass whipped!"

Etta James, who was recently portrayed on the big screen by Beyonce, has made it clear that she is NOT a fan of the diva.

Apparently James is upset that Beyonce sang her hit song, "At Last," for President Obama and Michelle's first dance at the Neighborhood Ball.

At a recent concert in Seattle, James complained about Beyonce singing the song saying, "You guys know your president, right? You know the one with the big ears? Wait a minute, he ain't my president. He might be yours; he ain't my president. But I tell you that woman he had singing for him, singing my song — she's going to get her ass whipped. The great BeyoncĂ©. Like I said, she ain't mine. ... I can't stand BeyoncĂ©. She has no business up there, singing up there on a big ol' president day, gonna be singing my song that I've been singing forever."

Jealous much?

This Video Will Break Your Heart!

Courage Campaign has just released a very touching video using Regina Spektor's hit song "Fidelity." It's in response to Ken Starr's legal brief he filed on behalf of the "Yes on 8" campaign that would forcibly divorce the 18,000 same-sex couples that married in California last year before the passage of Prop8.

My first 5K run!

One of the items I had on my short list of "Things to do in 2009" was to run a short marathon. So yesterday I participated in my first 5K run.

I was nervous all week about it, not knowing whether I'd be able to complete it (I had only decided to participate in it a week prior and not with much training). Luckily my good buddy, Marty, decided to run with me. Knowing that I had his support and the support of many of my friends (Michael T., Billy, Calvin, Mark, Michael B., etc.), I arrived at Golden Gate Park yesterday morning with high hopes.

My original goal was to run the 5K in 36 minutes. The race began a little after 8 a.m. and I was off...

Before I knew it, the race was done and I felt great (with a few tears in my eyes). My official time was 30:33 -- 5 minutes and 27 seconds faster than my goal! I placed 581 out of 2,327 runners and 189th in my age group.

Next up...Bay to Breakers!!!
